2. Pairing a Connection in Under a Minute

Learn the universal pairing flow — generate a single-use, five-minute code from My connections and paste it into any surface to link it to your account.

Every surface that extends @oupi beyond the main platform — the Chrome extension, OUPI Desktop, the Office add-in, the Teams or Slack bot, or an OUPI device like the Orbe or Nexus One — connects to your account through the same universal pairing flow. You manage all of them from a single page called My connections, where you can see each surface's status, its last activity, and disconnect or revoke it whenever you choose. No matter which surface you use, credits are always deducted from your OUPI account.

The pairing flow is identical for every connection and takes under a minute:

Install or open the surface you want to connect (extension, desktop app, add-in, bot, or device).
Go to My connections in your OUPI dashboard.
Generate a pairing code. The code is single-use and expires after five minutes.
Paste the code into the surface where it asks for it.
Done. The connection immediately appears in My connections as connected, along with its last activity timestamp.

If the code expires before you paste it, simply generate a new one — there is no penalty or cooldown.

Tip

Pairing codes last only five minutes and can be used exactly once. Have the surface ready and waiting for the code before you generate it — that way you can paste it in seconds and avoid expiration.

Once paired, a connection stays linked until you explicitly disconnect or revoke it. You can pair multiple connections at the same time — for example, the Chrome extension and OUPI Desktop on the same computer. @oupi is aware of which connections are online and on which machine, so a mission can use the desktop app for a local file and the browser extension for a website in a single workflow. If a needed connection is missing, the mission will tell you.

Security is built into the pairing model. Each connection is scoped to specific capabilities and can be revoked at any time from My connections. The desktop control, for instance, only activates when you explicitly arm it from the menu bar. Browser actions follow domain rules set by your organization. Everything runs under your OUPI account with its permissions, so revoking a connection you no longer use is always a good practice.

Open My connections in your OUPI dashboard. Pick any surface you have installed (e.g., the Chrome extension or OUPI Desktop). Click to generate a pairing code, then switch to that surface and paste the code. Watch the connection appear as "connected" with its status and last-seen timestamp.
