Mastering the OUPI Chat: From First Message to Team Collaboration · Lesson 7 of 7

7. Memory, Privacy and Everyday Tips

Control what the chat remembers across conversations, use temporary chats for sensitive material, and master everyday actions like editing messages, regenerating answers, copying with formatting, and sharing conversations.

OUPI's memory lets the chat remember key facts about you across conversations — your preferences, your context, decisions you've made. When memory is turned on, the chat builds a running picture of who you are and what you need, so you don't have to repeat yourself every time you start a new conversation. Crucially, nothing stored in memory is ever used to train models. You stay in full control: visit the Memory page to read every fact the chat has saved, edit anything that's outdated, or delete items you no longer want retained.

Sometimes you need to ask something without leaving a trace. Temporary chat mode is designed for exactly that: the conversation is not saved to your history and does not feed memory. Use it for one-off questions, sensitive material, or anything you simply don't want kept. Once you close a temporary chat, it's gone — no record in your sidebar, no facts added to memory. Think of it as the private-browsing equivalent for your AI conversations.

Tip

Working on a confidential HR matter or handling personal data? Start a temporary chat first. You get the same AI capabilities without anything being stored or remembered afterward.

Small everyday actions save a lot of time:

• Edit a message — Click edit on any of your past messages to change it. The conversation forks from that point, giving you a fresh branch without losing the original. • Regenerate an answer — Not satisfied? Hit regenerate on the last AI reply. You can even pick a different model for the new attempt. • Copy with formatting — The copy button preserves rich formatting so you can paste directly into Word or Google Docs. Each code block also has its own copy button for quick grabs. • Share a conversation — From the conversation menu, create a read-only share link, or open the conversation in a workspace to continue collaborating with your team.

Tip

If an answer is almost right but you want a more creative or more precise take, regenerate it with a different model using the model selector — your full conversation history is preserved.

Try it now

Open the Memory page (Settings → Memory). Review the facts the chat has stored about you. Edit one item to make it more accurate, and delete any entry you no longer need. Then start a temporary chat and confirm it does not appear in your sidebar history afterward.

Take this course in OUPI → This exercise is done inside the OUPI platform.
Recap

You now control what OUPI remembers: toggle memory on or off, review and edit stored facts on the Memory page, and rest assured nothing trains a model. For sensitive work, use temporary chat — no history, no memory. Day-to-day, remember you can edit messages to fork a conversation, regenerate answers (even with another model), copy replies with full formatting, and share conversations via a read-only link or directly into a team workspace.
