5. Bring Your Own API Keys
Know which plans let you register your own provider keys so those requests are billed directly by the provider instead of consuming OUPI credits.
By default, every action you take on OUPI — chat messages, media generations, agent missions, sandbox work — is paid with OUPI credits. Credits are deducted from your plan's monthly allowance, and costs depend on the model and resources used. But there is another option: on plans that allow it, you can register your own API keys from external AI providers. When you do, requests sent to those providers go through your keys and are billed directly by the provider, not from your OUPI credit balance.
Not every plan supports this feature. Only certain plans let you register your own provider keys. If your current plan does not include this option, you will not see the ability to add keys. You can check your plan details on the Subscription page to understand what is included. If you need this capability, consider upgrading — upgrades apply immediately.
When you bring your own API keys, only the requests routed through those specific providers bypass OUPI credits. Everything else — platform tools, sandbox compute, other models you haven't supplied keys for — continues to consume credits from your allowance as usual. Think of it as a hybrid setup: your own keys handle certain providers, and OUPI credits cover the rest.
If you register your own keys, remember that the provider will bill you separately on their own terms. Keep an eye on both your OUPI credit balance (visible in the top bar) and your provider's billing dashboard to avoid surprises on either side.
To register your own API keys, head to Settings. This is where you enter and manage provider keys on eligible plans. Once configured, OUPI will automatically route matching requests through your keys. Your credit balance and the Subscription page will still track everything that runs on OUPI credits, so you always have visibility into what is being charged where.
Even with your own keys, you can still benefit from OUPI's cost-saving features for credit-based usage: let automatic model selection pick lighter models for routine tasks, write clear briefs for missions, and use knowledge bases instead of pasting long documents.
Some OUPI plans let you register your own provider API keys in Settings. Requests using those keys are billed directly by the provider and do not consume OUPI credits. Everything else — other models, platform tools, sandbox — still uses your credit allowance. Check your Subscription page to see if your plan supports this feature, and monitor both your OUPI balance and your provider's billing to stay in control.
