7. Getting Personalized Advice from the Smart Financial Advisor
Ask targeted questions to the AI advisor and learn how to frame queries for the most actionable, context-aware recommendations.
The Smart Financial Advisor is your personal AI-powered finance consultant, accessible via Finance > Advisor. It analyzes your transaction history to deliver context-aware recommendations tailored to your actual financial situation — not generic tips. Because the advisor draws on your recorded income, expenses, and spending patterns, the quality of its answers improves as you log more transactions. Each question costs approximately 2 credits.
Framing your questions well is the key to getting actionable advice. The advisor performs best when you are specific. Instead of asking "How can I save money?", try:
• "Based on my last 3 months of spending, which category could I realistically cut by 15%?" • "I want to build a 3-month emergency fund — what monthly savings target should I aim for given my current income and expenses?" • "Are there any recurring subscriptions I'm paying for that seem redundant?"
Specificity gives the AI the constraints it needs to return a focused, practical answer rather than a vague suggestion.
Combine the Advisor with other OUPI Finance features for richer queries. For example, check your Anomaly Narrator first (Finance > Anomalies) to spot unusual spending, then ask the Advisor: "I had an unusual spike in dining expenses last month — should I set a budget cap, and what amount would be reasonable?" The anomaly comparison uses at least 3 months of data, giving the Advisor solid context.
You can also reference your Financial Health Score to guide your questions. If your score flags a weak savings regularity dimension, ask the Advisor something like: "My Health Score shows irregular savings — can you suggest an automated savings plan that fits my income pattern?" This links the quantitative diagnosis (Health Score) with qualitative, step-by-step guidance (Advisor). Remember, the Health Score requires at least 10 transactions to generate results.
Each Advisor question costs ~2 credits, so batch related sub-questions into a single, well-structured prompt. For instance: "Given my spending DNA profile and current debt-to-income ratio, (1) what is a realistic monthly debt repayment target, and (2) how should I prioritize high-interest vs. low-interest debt?" One detailed question beats three vague ones.
Open Finance > Advisor. Type a specific question that references your own data, such as: "Looking at my expenses over the past two months, which spending category grew the fastest and what would you recommend to control it?" Review the AI's response and note how it ties back to your actual transactions.
To get the most from the Smart Financial Advisor: (1) be specific — include timeframes, goals, and constraints in your questions; (2) leverage other OUPI Finance insights like the Anomaly Narrator and Health Score to inform your queries; (3) batch related sub-questions to optimize your ~2 credits per question. The more transaction data you have logged, the more personalized and actionable the advice becomes.
