3. Strengthening Security with Two-Factor Authentication
Enable two-factor authentication with an authenticator app and safely store your one-time backup codes.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of protection to your OUPI account. After entering your password, you also confirm your identity with a temporary code generated by an authenticator app on your phone — such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or 1Password. Even if someone discovers your password, they still can't access your account without that second code. Once 2FA is active, OUPI may also ask for a code again before you perform sensitive actions (like changing security settings). This is called step-up verification, and it's there to protect you during critical moments.
When you enable 2FA, OUPI displays a set of one-time backup codes. These codes are shown only once and act as emergency keys: each one can be used a single time to log in if you lose access to your authenticator app (for example, if your phone is lost or broken). Think of them as a safety net — without them and without your app, you could be locked out of your account.
AstuceStore your backup codes somewhere safe that is NOT on your phone. A password manager on another device, a printed sheet in a secure location, or an encrypted file on your computer are all good options. If your phone is the only place they exist, losing it means losing both your app and your backup codes at the same time.

After 2FA is enabled, your login flow changes slightly: you'll enter your password as usual, then OUPI will prompt you for the six-digit code from your authenticator app. For certain sensitive actions — like modifying security settings or managing your data — OUPI may ask for a fresh code again, even if you're already logged in. This step-up verification ensures that important changes are always confirmed by the real account owner.
