3. The Chrome Extension: Side Panel and Page Actions
Install and pin the Chrome extension, open the side panel on any page, and let @oupi read, answer about, and act within your browser — including delegating logged-in web tasks to missions.
The OUPI Chrome extension adds a side panel to your browser that sits alongside any web page you visit. When you open it, @oupi sees the page you're on, can answer questions about its content, and — with your permission — can act directly in the browser: filling forms, navigating between pages, or extracting data. This makes it a powerful companion for research, data entry, and everyday browsing tasks.
But the extension does more than assist you in real time. It also serves as the bridge that lets OUPI missions delegate web tasks that require a logged-in browser. If a mission needs to interact with a website where you're already authenticated (submitting a report, checking a dashboard), the Chrome extension is what makes that possible — no need to share credentials.
To get started, download the extension from the setup page in My connections. Currently it's provided as a .zip file (a Web Store listing is coming). Once installed, pin the OUPI icon to your Chrome toolbar — this gives you one-click access to the side panel from any tab.
After installation, you need to pair the extension to your OUPI account. Go to My connections, generate a pairing code, and paste it into the extension when prompted. Codes are single-use and expire after five minutes, so use them promptly. Once paired, the extension appears in My connections with its status and last activity, just like every other OUPI connection.
Pin the OUPI icon to your toolbar right after installing. If you skip this step, the extension hides behind Chrome's puzzle-piece menu and you'll lose the quick one-click access to the side panel.
When the side panel is open, @oupi is context-aware: it knows which page you're viewing and can reference its content in answers. You can ask it to summarize an article, compare data across tabs, or pull specific details from a complex page.
When you allow browser actions, @oupi can go further — clicking buttons, filling in fields, or navigating to other pages on your behalf. These actions follow domain rules set by your organization, so sensitive sites stay protected. Everything runs under your OUPI account with its permissions, and credits are deducted from your account balance regardless of which surface you use.
The Chrome extension also works hand-in-hand with other connections. @oupi sees which connections are online and on which machine. A mission could, for example, use OUPI Desktop to open a local file and then use the Chrome extension to upload it to a web portal — all in one flow on the same computer. If a mission needs the extension and it isn't connected, OUPI will tell you what's missing so you can fix it before proceeding.
If you no longer use the Chrome extension on a particular machine, revoke it from My connections. Each connection is scoped and revocable — keeping your list clean ensures you always know exactly where @oupi has access.
Go to My connections → Chrome extension setup. Download and install the extension, then pin the OUPI icon to your toolbar. Generate a pairing code, paste it into the extension, and confirm the connection appears as active. Open any web page and click the OUPI icon to launch the side panel — try asking @oupi a question about the page.
The Chrome extension gives @oupi a permanent seat in your browser. Install it, pin the icon, and pair it with a single-use code from My connections. Once connected, the side panel lets @oupi read any page, answer your questions about it, and act in the browser when you allow it. It's also the key to letting missions handle logged-in web tasks on your behalf. Revoke the connection anytime you no longer need it, and remember: all credits come from your OUPI account, whichever surface you use.
