7. OUPI Devices: Orbe and Nexus One
Discover the Orbe voice companion and the Nexus One sovereign edge box, and pair them to your account using the same code-based flow as software connections.
OUPI isn't limited to your browser tab — it extends to physical devices too. Two hardware products bring @oupi into your physical environment:
• Orbe — A voice companion designed for a room. Think of it as a dedicated, always-ready voice interface to @oupi that lives on your desk or in a meeting space.
• Nexus One — A sovereign edge box that runs OUPI capabilities directly on your premises. It comes with its own console for managing files, skills, telemetry, and remote access. Because processing happens locally, your data stays within your infrastructure.
Both devices are full OUPI connections. They appear in "My connections" alongside your Chrome extension, Desktop app, Office add-in, and chat bots — and they pair to your account using the exact same code-based flow.
Pairing an Orbe or Nexus One follows the same steps as any other OUPI connection:
- Power on the device and follow its on-screen or voice prompt until it asks for a pairing code.
- In OUPI, go to My connections and generate a pairing code.
- Enter (or speak) the code on the device.
- The device appears in your connections list as "connected," showing its last activity.
Codes are single-use and expire after five minutes, so generate one only when you're ready to pair. Once connected, the device draws credits from your OUPI account just like every other surface.
If your pairing code expires before you finish, don't worry — just generate a new one from My connections. Each code is independent and single-use, so an expired code can never be reused by anyone.
Once paired, your devices don't work in isolation. @oupi is aware of all your online connections and the machines they run on. This means a mission could, for example, use the Nexus One for local file processing while the Chrome extension handles a web lookup — all coordinated automatically.
If a mission needs a connection that isn't online, OUPI will tell you what's missing so you can activate it. This multi-connection awareness makes devices like the Orbe and Nexus One even more powerful as part of your broader OUPI setup.
Security works the same way for devices as for software connections:
• Each device connection is scoped to your account and its permissions. • You can disconnect a device temporarily or revoke it permanently from My connections at any time. • Everything the device does runs under your OUPI account, so your organization's rules and your personal knowledge bases apply.
If you stop using a device or it changes hands, revoke it immediately from your connections list to cut access.
Open My connections in OUPI now. Look at the list of your active connections and their statuses. If you have an Orbe or Nexus One available, try generating a pairing code — notice the five-minute countdown. If you don't have a device handy, explore the disconnect and revoke options on any existing connection.
