SkillHub Mastery: Capture and Reuse What Works · Lección 4 de 6

4. Activating, Deactivating, and Pinning Skills

Control which skills the AI can see by toggling activation and pinning the procedures that should always apply.

Every skill in your SkillHub library has an activation toggle. Only active skills are offered to the AI when you work in ChatPro or OUPI Studio. If a skill is inactive, the AI simply cannot see it — it's benched, not deleted. This is especially handy for seasonal procedures, work-in-progress drafts, or skills you only need during certain projects. You can flip a skill back on at any time without recreating it.

Pinning goes one step further than activation. When you pin a skill, it stays prioritized whenever the AI assembles its context. Think of pinning as a way to say: "This procedure should always apply to my work, no matter what task I'm doing." For example, if your team has a mandatory output format or a compliance checklist that must be followed in every deliverable, pin that skill so the AI never overlooks it — even when many other skills are also active.

Here's how activation and pinning work together:

  1. Inactive skill → The AI cannot see or use it at all.
  2. Active skill (not pinned) → The AI can see it and will apply it when it judges the skill relevant to the current task.
  3. Active + Pinned skill → The AI always prioritizes it in context, so the procedure is applied consistently.

Use activation to control availability and pinning to control priority. Keep your active list lean — only activate what you actually need — and reserve pinning for the procedures that truly must never be skipped.

Consejo

Deactivate rather than delete. If a skill isn't needed right now but might return (quarterly reports, annual audits), just toggle it off. You preserve the procedure and can reactivate it instantly when the time comes.

Consejo

Don't pin everything. Pinning too many skills crowds the AI's context and dilutes priority. Reserve pins for universal procedures — brand guidelines, compliance rules, output templates — and let the AI pick the right active skill for everything else.

Ahora tú

Open your SkillHub library. Pick one skill you use daily and pin it. Then find one skill you haven't needed recently and deactivate it. Start a quick ChatPro conversation and notice which skills appear in the Skills selector — only your active ones should be listed.

Para recordar

Active skills are visible to the AI; inactive ones are hidden but preserved. Pinned skills are always prioritized in the AI's context, making them ideal for must-follow procedures. Use activation to manage availability and pinning to manage priority. Keep your active list focused, pin sparingly, and deactivate instead of deleting when a skill is temporarily unneeded.
