2. Creating Your First Design
Start a new design from a blank canvas, a template, or an AI-generated layout and learn the drag-and-drop editor basics.
Creative Suite is OUPI's visual production tool. It gives you a drag-and-drop editor where you can build graphics, presentations, posters, and social media visuals. You don't need design experience — the editor lets you place text, images, and shapes on a canvas by simply dragging them where you want. Every design you create is saved as a file you can reuse elsewhere in OUPI, including in the chat or in missions. Editing is always free; only AI-powered generations (layouts, images, notebook outputs) consume credits, and the cost is shown before each generation so there are no surprises.
There are three ways to start a new design from the gallery:
- Blank canvas — Choose a format and begin with an empty page. Best when you have a precise vision.
- Template — Pick a ready-made layout that already includes placeholder text, images, and your brand kit colors and fonts. Swap the content and you're done.
- AI-generated layout — Describe what you need in plain language (e.g., "a LinkedIn carousel announcing our new offer, three slides") and the AI proposes a complete first version. You can also drop a screenshot or photo of an existing design and ask for an editable version of it.
All three paths open the same drag-and-drop editor, so you can always refine the result.
When using the AI to generate a layout, describe the purpose and context — not just the look. For example, say "an Instagram story promoting a webinar on May 15" rather than "blue rectangle with text." The AI produces better results when it understands the goal.
Once inside the editor, you work on a visual canvas. The core actions are:
• Add text — Click to place a text box, then type or paste your content. • Add images — Upload your own or use the AI image tool: describe the image, pick a style, generate it, and place it on the canvas. Generated images are stored in your files for reuse. • Add shapes — Drop rectangles, circles, lines, and other elements to structure your layout. • Drag and drop — Move any element by dragging it; resize by pulling its handles.
Your brand kit (logos, colors, fonts) is applied by default, so new elements automatically match your visual identity.
If your team administrator has set up a shared brand kit, your designs will use those logos, colors, and fonts automatically. This keeps every piece of content on brand without manual adjustments each time.
Open Creative Suite and go to the gallery. Try each creation method: (1) start a blank design and add a text box plus a shape, (2) pick a template and swap the placeholder text, (3) type a short description like "a social media post announcing a team event" and let the AI generate a layout. Explore dragging, resizing, and repositioning elements in each.
You now know the three ways to start a design in Creative Suite: blank canvas, template, or AI-generated layout (including from a screenshot). Inside the editor, you drag and drop text, images, shapes, and AI-generated visuals onto your canvas. Your brand kit keeps everything consistent automatically. Editing is free — AI generations cost credits, always displayed before you confirm. Next, explore exporting and sharing your finished designs.
