Credits & Pricing on OUPI: The Complete Beginner's Guide · Lesson 6 of 8

6. Never Pay for Failures

Learn that credits are debited only on success, that missions stop cleanly when the balance is short, and that unpayable chat messages are refused before they start.

One of OUPI's most reassuring principles is that you are never charged for something that didn't work. Credits are debited only after an operation succeeds. If a generation fails — whether it's a chat response, an image, a video, or a sandbox task — you pay nothing. This is by design, not a courtesy refund. Every action follows the same rule: succeed first, then debit. You can experiment freely knowing that errors, glitches, or platform hiccups will never silently eat into your balance.

What about agent missions — those multi-step tasks where an AI works through several rounds of reasoning and tool use? Missions check your credit balance before each new round of work. If your balance is too low to continue, the mission stops cleanly. Crucially, it keeps everything it has already produced up to that point. You won't lose partial results, and you won't be charged for the round it couldn't complete. Think of it as a built-in safety net: the mission pauses gracefully rather than crashing or overdrawing your account.

Chat messages get an even earlier check. Before a message is sent to the AI model, OUPI verifies that you have enough credits to cover it. If you don't, the message is simply refused — it never starts processing. This means you'll never type a long, carefully crafted prompt only to discover afterwards that it drained credits you didn't have. The platform tells you upfront, giving you the chance to upgrade your plan, wait for your monthly renewal, or ask your team administrator for additional allowance.

Tip

Costs are shown before actions when they can be estimated, and always shown afterwards. Keep an eye on the credit balance in the top bar and review the cost displayed on each mission or media job to build an intuition for what's expensive and what's cheap.

Tip

To avoid running low mid-mission, write clear, focused briefs. Fewer rounds means fewer model calls and tool uses, which means lower cost. Letting OUPI's automatic model selection pick the right model also helps — it favors lighter, cheaper models for routine work.

Try it now

Open OUPI and look at the top bar to find your current credit balance. Then navigate to the Subscription page to see your plan, your monthly allowance, and your renewal date. This is where you'll always go to check your spending and manage your plan.

Recap

Three safety rules protect your wallet on OUPI: (1) Credits are debited only on success — failed operations cost nothing. (2) Agent missions check your balance before each round and stop cleanly if funds are short, preserving all work done so far. (3) Chat messages are refused before they start if you can't pay for them. You're never surprised by hidden charges. Check your balance in the top bar and your plan details on the Subscription page to stay in control.
